Projeto de Educação Social ao Pensamento Consciente

Description: Education

Name: Joana Almeida e José Paulo

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Joana Almeida, 35, saw her brother becoming unemployed and without his main source of income. To help him, Joana had the idea of producing and selling soap from used cooking oil to guarantee an income. The idea worked so well that Joana wanted to spread her knowledge to other residents of the Santa Marta community, in order to boost the local economy.

With the help of their friend and partner José Paulo, 38, they founded the “Projeto de Educação Social ao Pensamento Consciente“, where they promote workshops aimed at the socio-environmental empowerment of the community’s residents. In the workshops it is also possible to learn how to produce other types of cleaning products, such as disinfectant, washing powder, and soap paste.

Knowing that the disposal of waste is a problem in the community, the duo, besides reusing the oil that would be discarded irregularly in nature, also collects and recycles PET bottles, margarine jars, and other plastic containers for the storage of the products produced.

Joana and Paulo dream of formalizing the project and want to transform it into a non-governmental organization (NGO) to bring social and environmental impact and the generation of income to the residents of Santa Marta. The partners found in Project Hub the support and guidance they need to follow the path they want to achieve.
