Santa Marta Souvenirs

Santa Marta Souvenirs

Description: Souvenir and handicraft shop

Name: Andréia Miranda

Andréia Miranda, 41, is born and raised in the community and one of the leaders of Santa Marta.
Over the past years, she has been the head of the Association of Traders and fights until today for the formalization and rights of the small barrack owners of the favela.

The decision to become an entrepreneur came after the birth of her first-born son, who had health complications and therefore had to leave his formal job. Without a fixed source of income, she and her husband opened a bar, but some time later it closed. Then, after the pacification of Santa Marta, they saw the increased circulation of tourists through the community as a chance to create a business.

Since 2012, Andréia has a souvenir shop, @santamartasouvenirs , with items produced by her and her family. Among the pieces, there are magnets, key chains, clothing, all customized with paintings and drawings of the favela.

The artisan saw in the Project Hub the possibility of maturing her business, learning about management and digitalization of her brand, because she always wanted to take her enterprise to the digital world.
